The Sweet North Bakery
The Sweet North lives up to it’s name - when you walk through the doors, the delicious scents of cinnamon, nutmeg, coffee, and freshly baked pretzels fill the air.
It started off with a simple request for pretzels for an anniversary gift. Despite never having made them before, Erinn whipped up a batch and the rest is history. She grew up baking everything from scones, cookies, tarts, and bread but pretzels never made it into her repertoire until then. However, from that one simple request, a push from some friends, and the realization that pretzels are fun to both make and eat, The Sweet North was born. Erinn and her husband Kris started selling their delicious treats in 2013 at the Thunder Bay Country Market, and now seven years later they are open in two locations - Court Street and in the Intercity Shopping Centre.
It’s a family affair at The Sweet North, from Erinn and Kris, her sister and brother in law, and now their sons putting all their collective talents into the business. All share the same outlook - we are privileged to call not only Canada but Thunder Bay our home. It is a sweet life we are allowed to lead here and they are here to make it a tiny bit sweeter.
