Palash

Palash is originally from India and moved to Thunder Bay in 2018 to continue his education in film production. He figured it would be a great start to exploring the great white north.

Palash is passionate about storytelling and loves to express that through his photography and cinematography. When he isn’t shooting, he enjoys a good cup of coffee or a beer (or two). Music is a big part of his daily life - '“only listening though [as he has] no musical talent.” A secret talent of his? Solving a Rubik's cube in a minute, which “is not something to brag about but that is the only cool thing [he has]."

As a child in a smaller community, Palash grew up watching his parents talk and know most people they crossed. He later moved to Mumbai where he saw the opposite lifestyle - he loved the busy life at first but has since realized the importance of living in a supportive community. He views his decision to move to Thunder Bay as the biggest and best decision he has made. It has allowed him to do what he loves and wanted to do for years. “I met awesome people from different parts of the world, learned a lot, made close friends and experienced so many things that I never thought I would do.”

The Thunder Bay Marina is one of his favourite spots in the city with its views of Lake Superior and The Sleeping Giant. (He may also have a secret spot that he refuses to share.)

Palash volunteers with the Black Sheep Mountain biking club and plans to do more work with organizations like Roots to Harvest and Dew Drop inn.

During COVID, he started to do more outdoor activities like hiking and mountain biking. “I love the outdoors, going on hikes with friends, mountain biking and capturing those memories is what makes me happy.” The time allowed him to focus on himself, his health and his work.

”I can't live without my camera, that is how I look at the world.”
